MASS START Swim Series Race 1 – Important update!

We’ve been to Box End Park today.
The temperature is 11.4C. It’s not set to get any warmer before Saturday.

Have spoken to the management and the upshot is that they’re not wanting to risk people in the water for 2 hours – which we agree with.

So the upshot is that we have a maximum distance of 3.8k and a cut off of 90mins max. If you’re already in the 5k (loads of people), then you can drop to 3.8k and your result will be carried over to the 5k series for the other two races.

WETSUITS will now be COMPULSORY for all distances. Wetsuit hire is available at Box End Park at £5.

We know a few of you hardcore OWs will not worry about the cold but ambient air temp is also a consideration and we can’t put anyone at risk. Obviously, it’s not what we wanted and it’s the first time we’ve had to ever make changes like this but we hope you can see the reasoning and support the series still.
